Now This: California Gov. Wants To Ban Combustion-Engine Cars

California is a state in love with the automobile, with more than 2 million passenger autos registered to drivers. Yet the almost-octogenarian California Governor Jerry Brown has been pushing his chief environmental regulator to initiate the process to ban combustion-engine cars. Really. “I’ve gotten messages from the governor asking, ‘Why haven’t we done something already?’” California Air Resources Board chairman Mary Nichols said in a recent interview.

This proposed ban only proliferates the lie that the combustion-engine is a polluter; electric cars are only as clean and green as the electricity providers, which rely on coal-fired power plants for consistent power – not to mention strip mining is necessary for their battery production. But that environmental degradation is OK by environmentalists because it is for their cause – like the birds that die in windmills or in solar panel fields. Their death is OK too because they are dying for the right cause.
Beyond that, studies have shown electric cars are worse for the environment per mile than comparable gasoline-powered cars. But Gov. Jerry apparently didn’t read that memo.
