My Thought For The Day: Andrew lived every day of his life believing. Every day. There was no reluctance in his soul - No limiting of his spirit. It is almost as if he knew his time was limited.
Years ago, as his fame was beginning, I spoke with Andrew. I encouraged him to be a public speaker - to go groups and let them know first hand what he was doing and more importantly what government was doing. I remember the first event he did for me and the numerous events he did for the CA Republican Party.
Before our revolution, a figure emerged. He was not from the upper crust. Indeed, some questioned his motives, his background and his right to speak. Yet Thomas Paine became the most read author of the day. A copy of his "Common Sense" is by my bedside and ignited the embers of our revolutionary spirit.
It was Paine who wrote that 'The duty of a patriot is to protect his country from its government.'
Today our country lost a patriot - a latter day Thomas Paine. Far too early for his family, far too early for all of us.
