Trump Pushes Back – But Schumer, Pelosi say they have deal with Trump to protect ‘Dreamers’ – PV Asks: What would Reagan have done?
Overnight, Trump pushed back over a deal that Pelosi and Schumer claimed they had on DACA with Trump.
Even so, it appears that Trump is more than unlikely to require anyone already here to be deported. Trump tweeted:
“Does anybody really want to throw out good, educated and accomplished young people who have jobs, some serving in the military? Really!”
Are you surprised?
As a political analyst/historian, I would have to say that Trump has gone all in on tax reform – like the Gipper.
If we look back at history, we find that in the Fall of 1986, President Reagan signed two huge pieces of legislation. In late October, he signed the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. Within days, he signed the Tax Reform Ac of 1986.
Obviously, both bills working working their way through Congress at the same time.
Trump is in a nearly identical circumstance. Both issues are on the table at once. Certainly, he is all in on Tax Reform. The only question is: Will the Democrats in Congress, specifically the Senate, deliver enough votes for his package?
