Three-Fifths a Man

In almost every black barbershop across America at some point this topic has been discussed, is being discussed or will be. Too often this portion of the constitution is looked at as a negative, as further proof of just how racist America is. We must be fair in our perspective and judge events by the times the were in. This keeps things level and in clear view. We who sit upon the shoulders of the Framers can now see much further than our forefathers and be mindful one day our children’s children will sit high in a shinning city upon a hill. Let us pray that, when they look back at us, they do not judge ya too harshly. For after all, we made our decisions based on the times we are in, right?

I made this poem basic, because the more complicated it gets the easier it becomes for those who seek to exploit our racial issues of the past. So here’s a quick and basic explanation of the three fifth clause 3/5th of a man notion. Just remember there were whites back then who said 0/5th and wanted to control the vote of each slave they owned. Freedom would seem impossible under those terms. What if we could get the black man 3/5th? Sounds like the biblical story of lot bargaining with God to find just a few good men. and now ladies and gentlemen:
